2021 SPRING NEWS LETTER
021 SPRING NEWS LETTER
Good news at last. The Ainsdale green will be opening to members on Sunday 4th April. However, due to current restrictions we are unable to have the traditional opening ceremony and bowling must be still governed by the BCGBA guidelines in force at the close of last season.
Only fully subscribed club members allowed on the green.
One-hour sessions between 10am and 6pm should be booked in advance with the co-ordinator Karen Dyson (Tel. 01704 469606, Mob. 07479 639787, email: email@example.com.)
Social distancing rules are to be observed with a maximum of 6 persons allowed on the green at any one time with either three blocks of singles/pairs or two family groups.
Unfortunately, the clubhouse and toilets must remain closed for the time being but it is hoped to restore these facilities in the very near future.
It is appreciated that this is not an ideal start to the season but as restrictions are gradually lifted we should soon be able to return to something like normal.
Full use of the green cannot be made until the clubhouse and toilets are back in use. The club has received a very generous offer of commercial level disinfection on a fortnightly basis at no cost to the club. However, we will still need the manual cleaning previously carried out by the ladies on a weekly rota. Any members, ladies or gents willing to offer their services in this task would be most welcomed and should in the first instance contact the club Chairman, Trevor Dyson, or myself as soon as possible.
Current restrictions do not permit league bowling just now but following the Governments road map for easing the lockdown the various leagues are anticipating a return to some form of league competition from May onwards, this will obviously be in accordance with BCGBA guidance which is expected soon.
With the cutting of the green being stepped up to keep the green in a playing condition, the removal of grass waste is again posing a problem. Volunteers are urgently required to assist the Green Manager by taking away a few bags on a regular basis. It is not a difficult chore and help would be much appreciated.
Members willing to help should contact Sanny McCarter on 01704 576211.
FEES FOR 2021 £70 per person (£20 non-bowlers)
Despite there being very limited bowling in 2020, last year we asked our members to pay fees of 50% of the previous rate, ie £35 instead of £70. Of this subscription fee, £15 came to the Bowls Section and £20 to The Main Club. Over 90% of our members paid the fee for which we are very grateful. Together with a grant of £1300 from Sport England these funds allowed us to maintain the green in a good condition and to meet the other costs of running the club.
We also used up over half our cash reserves.
The Main Club have decided that the Sports Levy will remain at £40 per member for all sports sections. We will have additional costs this year to allow us to operate in a COVID secure manner. However, the Bowling Committee have decided to hold the Subscription Fees for 2021 at the pre-Covid level of £70 (including Sports Levy). The Bowls element (£30) has not increased since 2012. For those who don’t bowl at all but wish to remain members of the Bowls Section, the fee is £20.
All fees are due within 4 weeks ie by Saturday 24th April at the latest.
Bank Transfer to Ainsdale Bowling Club, Sort Code 40 42 30, A/C No 11432222.
Cheques should be made payable to ‘Ainsdale Bowling Club’ and posted to the Treasurer,
