SPRING NEWS LETTER FEB 2020

AINSDALE BOWLING CLUB
2020 SPRING NEWS LETTER
CLUB BUILDINGS.
Re-roofing of the clubhouse, the toilet block and machine store
is now complete and replacement windows have been fitted to the clubhouse.
Work to replace the boundary fencing and the two shelters along the west side
of the green should be finished before the new season gets underway.
Credit for all this goes to Sanny McCarter who not only acted as project manager but was instrumental in raising the grant aid necessary to fund the work.
START OF SEASON BASH
John & Gwen Clark are arranging a Bowls Club social in the Main Club lounge on
Friday 27th March starting at 7.30pm. There will be entertainment with special guest Claire Simmo and a quality buffet, a social occasion not to be missed.
Tickets are £12 each. For more info and tickets, contact Gwen or John directly.

GREEN OPENING.
The official opening of the green will be at 1.00pm on Sunday 29th March.
As usual this will be presided over by our President, Margaret Jacques who will
bowl the first official wood of the season. It is always a happy social occasion so
please do your best to attend and get the season off to flying start.
The green will be made available for pre-season practice the week prior to the
official opening date, subject to reasonable weather conditions prevailing.
GREEN MANAGER.
After many years in charge, Dave Holmes has resigned as green manager.
Dave has tended both the green and the surrounding areas with professional expertise and the club is most grateful to both him and his wife Ann for the long and valuable service they have given to the club.
Sanny McCarter will, in future, oversee the contract maintenance work and from
the beginning of March, Mike Bond will be in charge of green maintenance and
cutting. Jim Alldritt and Alan Sumner will continue general maintenance work
around the club site.
Volunteers are now needed to take care of three flower beds along the east side.
Anyone willing to spare an hour or so, planting, weeding and generally keeping
them looking attractive will be welcomed.
ICE
A register of contact details for all members, to be used in the case of
emergency, is now well underway but is still only 50% complete.
If you have not yet indicated who the club should contact on your behalf if the
need arises, please do so as soon as possible. Forms are available from Hon.Sec.
2020 SUBSCRIPTIONS & LEAGUE FEES
Subject to the Main Club Sports levy remaining the same as last year, the
Club Treasurer, Ged Walmsley, does not envisage any increase in the Bowls Club
subscription for 2020.
In addition, all League registration fees for both Ladies and Gents leagues will,
for this season, be paid out of Club funds.
