MINUTES 24th APRIL 2023

ABC COMMITTEE MEETING,
Venue Main Club, 10.30am Tuesday 24th April 2023.
Present: Karen Dyson (Chair), Vera McGee, Pat White, Haydn Preece, Bob Fairhurst, Brian Kneale and Len Adams. Apologies: Ged Walmsley
The minutes of 23rd March 2023 were approved and signed by the Chair.
MATTERS ARISING
Item regarding ladies joining the Parks teams discussed and resolved.
MAIN CLUB REPORT
• Finances generally in good shape. Utility costs being evaluated with all possible savings being considered, including installation of solar panels.
• Franchise continuing satisfactorily, although issues being raised about members access during pool evenings. Andy Barlow trying to resolve.
• Issues between Football & Cricket still outstanding but both parties working towards a resolution.
• HP to assume overall ground management and membership of Main Club Committee.
TREASURERS REPORT (LA)
• GW unable to attend due to illness but nothing significant to report except the work switching on the sprinkler system has been paid.
GREEN MANAGER’S REPORT (HP)
• Ahead of schedule with works programme and keeping within agreed budget.
• Compliments on condition of green this year received from visiting clubs.
• Sorrel treatment working well. At present cutting at 6mm but this will shortly be lowered to 5mm to improve running.
MEMBERSHIP (LA)
• Currently only 90 members from the 2022 membership list have paid their subscription for this year. Agreed that a notice to be sent out immediately to members, reminding them that subs are due by this coming, Sunday 30th April at the latest.
• Applications have been received for 2 new members with more expected from the coaching courses being run at the moment.
GENERAL BUSINESS
• Health & Safety Policies.
Club to adopt BCGBA standard policies where applicable, with copies being posted on the club website for information of members. The Constitution to be amended to make reference to the existence of the relevant policy documents and indicating where they can be accessed.

• Days Out
With low interest being expressed for both the Ladies’ & the Men’s days out, suggested that application lists remain on the notice board for a further two weeks then, if no further interest is shown, we will need people to organise a Mixed Day Out similar to the 2022 visit to Longton.
• Club Calendar
Chairman’s Cup event originally planned for 21st May to be rescheduled to a later date.
• Social Bowling
Sunday afternoon social bowling to be resumed on 21st May 1pm-4pm.
Agreed that potential new members could be invited to attend the Coronation event on 7th May but would be closely monitored.
