Newsletter 2018 Spring

AINSDALE BOWLING CLUB NEWS LETTER                     Spring 2018

Good Morning All,

Attached is a copy of the Bowls Club Programme for 2018.

Two particular items to be aware of, and happening next month, are of course the Opening of the Green on Sunday 18th and the Main Club AGM on 25th.

The bowling green will be officially opened by our President, Margaret Jacques, who will, in accordance with tradition, bowl the first wood of the season.

Please do your best to come along and get the season off to a good start.

Bowling on the day will be a light hearted affair but even if you do not want to take part in the bowling, do come along and enjoy a cup of tea, a cake and have a natter with old friends and plan your strategies for the season ahead.

It is also hoped that as many members of the Bowls section as possible attend the Main Club AGM.  There are significant changes now taking place in the Main Club and as we are undoubtedly the largest sports section in the club it is important that we have a strong voice in what takes place.

Now for the important news. Due to careful control of our finances by the treasurer, the committee is pleased to announce that the subscription for 2018 will remain at £70 (£40 for non-playing members) providing there is no increase in the sports levy which will be decided at the Main Club AGM.

Another very important matter to be considered is the bowls clubhouse tea and coffee provision. We are well covered for tea, coffee & biscuits but at the moment we do not have any able volunteers who would be willing to keep the milk jug full and milk in the fridge ready for use.

Ideally it needs to be someone, male or female, who visits the green regularly and who would be willing to check milk supplies on a regular basis and refill as necessary, all costs incurred are of course paid by the club.

So if you want to continue having a cuppa after your game please give some thought to becoming the most honourable milk monitor, your valuable assistance will be much appreciated by everyone.

Please let either me or Tina Walmsley know if you can help us.

And finally, the Clubhouse Diary. This provides useful information on what is taking place on the green at any given time throughout the year including all league matches and competitions etc.

If you wish to add an event to the diary, please do check with me first, as I keep a duplicate copy at home which is useful when people ring up and ask if the green is free. If you make additions to the diary without letting me know, it can easily lead to a double booking as happened on two occasions last year.

With best wishes to everyone for a successful and enjoyable season
