MINUTES 5th MARCH 2024
ABC COMMITTEE MEETING,
Venue: Ainsdale Club, 2.00pm Tuesday 5th March 2024.
Present: Karen Dyson (Chair), Vera McGee, Trevor Dyson, Bob Fairhurst,
Ed Tennant and Len Adams. Simon Biddolph was also invited to attend.
Apologies: Pat White, Haydn Preece, Gary Baker, Brian Kneale.
MINUTES The minutes of 23rd January 2024 were approved and signed by the Chair.
MATTERS ARISING None
GREEN MANAGER’S REPORT (HP)
LA read a written report provided by HP
• Continual rain has held back green preparation, it has wintered well but needs a good dry spell to recover.
• Switching will be essential both morning and evening before the green is used.
• Green currently being cut to 10mm but will be gradually reduced to 5mm for the start of the season.
• Aiming for green opening Saturday 23rd March but weather dependant.
• Concern raised over a big gap in the boundary fencing.
MAIN CLUB REPORT (TD)
• Club finances continue to be stable.
• Upgrading work in the bar and lounge areas continuing with new bar top to be constructed and redecoration to complete.
• Alterations to changing rooms building to create new office and meeting space.
• Vodaphone dispute still awaiting independent arbitration.
• New proposals for subscriptions to be presented to AGM March 24th.
Adult Sports sub £30, Juniors £15, House/Social £10.
• Football season ends March 24th and Cricket to commence April 21st.
TREASURERS REPORT (TD)
• The Bowls Club finances are in good order and confident all known costs for the year can be met.
• Proposed reduction in the Sports levy will be to our advantage and would be welcome if approved at the AGM.
MEMBERSHIP (LA) Nothing to report
GENERAL BUSINESS
• Subscriptions.
Following on from the positive outlook given in the treasurer’s report, it was agreed that the subscription for this year should remain at £90 for playing members and £20 non-playing/social members.
League registration fees would continue to be paid by the club.
• Calendar. Further known dates added
• Competitions.
SB outlined his proposals for an additional trophy for the new competitions to be held this season. Costs for a mounted platter similar to the Arcari Trophy would cost c£80, this was approved.
• Coaching.
Sanny McCarter to continue coaching courses throughout April. Advertising flyers to be distributed in the village and copies posted on social media platforms.
• Toilet Cleaning.
VMcG produced a cleaning rota with to be filled in against weekly dates and posted on the clubhouse notice board. Spring newsletter to request members to choose a date convenient to them, if just 50 members participate it will mean only one cleaning duty per member for the year.
• Charity Coffee Morning.
14th March. Cakes wanted for cake stall and raffle prizes welcomed.
• Ainsdale in Bloom.
Ainsdale chosen to represent NW towns in National Competition, club invited to participate again.
• Proposed Parks ‘A’ & ‘B’ teams exhibition match.
Postponed due to the uncertainty of green opening date and the proposal coinciding with Easter.
