MINUTES 7th MARCH 2025
ABC COMMITTEE MEETING Monday 7th March 2025.
Present: Bob Fairhurst (Chair), Karen Dyson, Trevor Dyson, Ed Tennant, Vera McGee,Gary Baker, Haydn Preece and Len Adams.

MINUTES The minutes of 10th February 2025 were approved and signed by the Chair.
MATTERS ARISING None
GREEN MANAGER’S REPORT (HP)
Green prep on target for opening March 22.
Need to consider purchase of second mower for off season cutting work and also a sprayer to allow application of fertilisers outside contracted programme.
Known leak on sprinkler system to be managed, will need attention preferably at end of season.
Storm damage now repaired with compliments to maintenance & gardening squad for excellent work throughout the close season.
MAIN CLUB REPORT (BF)
AGM to be held 7.30pm Sunday 30th March, notice to be sent out to bowls membership.
TREASURERS REPORT (TD)
The Bowls Club finances still in good order, various League fees have been paid.
MEMBERSHIP (LA) Nothing to report.
GENERAL BUSINESS
- Maintenance – Storm damage to east stand completed. Outside of clubhouse painted. Two new water butts installed. Scaffold to be arranged to carry out adjustments to floodlights and a grant being sought for their replacement. Fence on east side down, neighbour contacted but no response as yet.
Committee recorded thanks to the whole maintenance team.
- Safeguarding – GB raised an issue related to use of the Whats App social media site. Care is needed when using it and it should only be used for a specific purpose.
- Committee – A Vice-Chair still required and there is also a vacancy for one new committee member.
- Cleaning contract approved to. One hour weekly at £15.
- Coaching – to be continued again over four Saturday mornings in April.
- Green opening – confirmed Saturday 22nd March, 1pm start. No comp to be organised, free bowling only. Tea/Coffee and cakes available.
- Future league membership of Ainsdale teams, careful consideration needed for next season.
- Bob Fairhurst reported that, for personal reasons, he wished to be relieved of his duties as Chairman and Main Club rep. This was accepted with very best wishes to him from the committee and thanks to Bob for his valuable service to the club. Karen Dyson has kindly agreed to be acting Chair & Main Club rep for the 2025 season.
