Matters Arising – None
Chairmans Report
KD then gave her report in which she thanked the committee members, the maintenance working party and the coaching team for their support and valuable assistance throughout the year.
Particular thanks went to Haydn Preece for his excellent work once again on the green and also to the
hard-working gardening team for their superb work on the surrounds which resulted in the club being included as part of the Ainsdale in Bloom bid which was awarded Gold for the ‘Best NW Town’ award and in addition a Silver Gilt in the National Competition.
Grants totalling £700 had been received from Sefton Council for our participation in the Britain in Bloom competition, paying for three fruit trees and two plant boxes made by our volunteer gardening team.
Team reports were then given for the 15 teams which represented the club in the various Leagues this year, two less than 2023 due to the unfortunate loss of the Ladies ‘C’ and ‘E’ teams.
Winners of the various competitions run throughout the season were announced and congratulations were given with particular thanks to those members who organised the events.
She reported on the successful Presentation Evening at the Dolce Vita restaurant attended by 74 members
A final thanks was given to those members who had helped to clean the clubhouse and had shopped for milk, biscuits and cleaning materials over the last year.
Treasurers Report
TD produced the first treasurers report since his appointment, he reported an interesting year learning the various income and expenditure issues relating to the club’s finances and presented a full accounts sheet for information and approval of members.
The club now has access to Internet banking allowing cheques to be scanned and payments to be made by bank transfer. The club also has a savings account entitled Business Money Management which attracts a daily gross interest of 1.8%. Money transferred from the current account can gain interest, helping to offset bank charges and maximise cash flow.
A reduction this year in the Main Club sports levy and the bowls club subscription remaining at £90, enhanced our income resulting in an overall income surplus of £1423, noting that ground and green expenditure of £8000 represented almost 53% of the club’s total expenditure.
The accounts as presented were approved unanimously.

• Before the election of officers for 2025, the Secretary gave a sincere vote of thanks to Karen Dyson for the excellent service she had given the club during the two years she has been in the Chair. She had been fully involved in every aspect of the club’s management during her time in office and without doubt will be an extremely hard act to follow.

AOB
• Haydn Preece, green manager, said he was trying to produce a much-improved playing surface for next season and impressed the importance of the switching of worm casts. Team captains to be responsible for making sure this was effectively carried out prior to all league matches and casual members also asked to ensure compliance. He is to research the availability of more user-friendly switching wands.
He expressed his thanks to Mike Bond for his reliable and dedicated mowing three times a week.
• Suggestion made that, in order to attract additional revenue, the green could be made available to external organisations. The re-introduction of open competitions could also be beneficial. Both issues to be considered further by the committee.
• The recent merit competition which included a successful barbeque was raised as a possible consideration for a future social event. The Main Club barbeque can be used if required.
• Sanny McCarter confirmed the continuation of the early season coaching courses in 2025.

• There being no further business the meeting was closed by the Chair, Bob Fairhurst, at 9.10pm.
