J G BOND MEN’S TROPHY WINNER 2025 – BILL MAKIN

A fine win by Bill Makin over Keith Miles in a well-contested final for the J G Bond Trophy on a sunny & windy day.

Haydn’s green was immaculate and pleased all; thanks to him for the photos too.

Draw of the sixteen players was made at 10am by organiser Gary Baker and winner in 2024, Matt Abel, who was unfortunately unable to defend his title this year.  All games to 21 with black jacks: no practice.  All games over by 5pm……a great day had by all.

A BBQ was cooked up by Bill Makin & Brian Kneale and enjoyed by all at the end of the first round.  A bar provided by Andy Barlow at the main club helped to hydrate everybody in the soaring afternoon heat.

Having the green all day allowed the first-round losers to play alongside the trophy games for the plate (kitchen-server variety): eventual winner Simon Biddolph in another well-contested final against Gary Baker…….the two organisers got their entry-monies back anyway.
