SPRING 2025

GREEN OPENING
The official opening of the green will be at 1.00pm on Saturday 22nd March.
This is an occasion for all members to come along and see the excellent work carried out by our
Green Manager together with the volunteer maintenance and gardening crew over the closed
season. Come along, have a cup of tea and a cake, a roll on the green or just enjoy the social
atmosphere and help get the new season underway.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Fees for 2025 are to remain as last year at £90 for playing members and £20 for social/non-playing
members. All subs are now due and should be paid by the end of April at the latest. Payment by
bank transfer is preferred, to Ainsdale Bowling Club, Sort Code 40-42-30, A/C No. 11432222, please
include your name as a Reference. Cheques should be made out to ‘Ainsdale Bowling Club’ and
either posted or delivered to the Treasurer, Trevor Dyson, at 18 Pinfold Lane, Ainsdale, PR8 3QH.
BOWLING LEAGUES
All League fees will again be paid by the club and fixture lists are now available on most League
websites. They can also be accessed on the club’s own website at www.ainsdalebowlingclub.co.uk.
CLUB COMPETITIONS
A series of club competitions will again be held during the season run by Simon & Trish Biddolph and
will include ladies, gents and mixed events. The comps will be handicapped and open to all members
to participate in, not only as players, but also as spectators enjoying the sociable atmosphere.
A full calendar of events is shown on the club website together with details all competitions and
other up and coming club events.
INSURANCE
The club is required, under BCGBA regulations, to insure all members against accidental injury
sustained whilst on club premises. However, persons over the age of 85 years, and we do have a
few, cannot be covered under the current policy therefore members so affected may wish to
consider reviewing their own personal insurance details to ensure suitable cover.
COACHING
Coaching sessions for beginners will again be organised by our qualified coaches, with a 4-week, one
hour course starting at 10.00 am on Saturday 5th April and continuing each Saturday morning during
April. The cost for the course is just £4 per visit, all equipment will be provided. Members are asked
to make the dates and times known to family, friends or colleagues who they think may be interested
in playing bowls. Postings will be made on local social media sites to help in promoting this popular
club initiative. It is also intended to provide refresher courses for existing members who may wish to
improve their game. The refresher courses will follow immediately after each of the introduction
sessions, those people interested in either the beginners or the refresher courses should contact
Sanny McCarter on 01704 576211.
MAIN CLUB
The Main Club AGM is to be held in the club lounge at 7.30pm on Sunday 30th March and all bowling
club members are invited to attend. The bowls club was poorly represented at last year’s AGM so
members are urged to come along, if only to see for themselves the improvements which have been
made to make the club more accessible and comfortable for all sections.
CLUBHOUSE & TOILET CLEANING
Good news on this thorny issue, arrangements have now been made for this work to be carried out
on a weekly basis by a paid cleaner starting at the end of March and throughout the season.
