MINUTES 13TH JUNE 2025
ABC COMMITTEE MEETING Friday 13th June 2025.
Present: Karen Dyson (Chair), Trevor Dyson, Lynn Roberti, Gary Baker, Haydn Preece and
Len Adams.
Apologies: Ed Tennant, Vera McGee.
MINUTES The minutes of 7th March 2025 were approved and signed by the Chair.
MATTERS ARISING None
GREEN MANAGER’S REPORT (HP)
All early preparation work completed, green in excellent condition and will improve as summer progresses. Importance of swishing to be reminded to all team captains.
Suggested that winter bowling over a limited period be considered. This was generally approved, initially to be restricted to members only with possibly one or two short competitions being organised.
Proposed the purchase of a light mower to be used during the winter period, an approx. cost of £500 was suggested. Also proposed a battery-operated leaf blower be purchased.
MAIN CLUB REPORT (KD)
General discussion about the availability of the Club lounge and bar area to bowling section members, the bar franchise apparently defaulting on a previous contractual obligation.
A letter to be sent to the Club secretary expressing our dissatisfaction with the current situation and highlighting the unfair disparity between the membership fees charged to pool and darts players compared with the sports levy imposed on the cricket, football & bowls sections.
TREASURERS REPORT (TD)
The Bowls Club finances still in good order with current reserves c £10k.
A contract for the floodlight replacement has been agreed and work scheduled for August/September completion.
MEMBERSHIP (LA) Reported 2025 membership has reached 137 with 129 full bowling
members, 6 social members and 2 life members and consists 52 ladies and 85 men.
GENERAL BUSINESS
- The Parks League C & D teams unhappy with the present league structure comprising just 5 teams and have voted to join the Maghull League for 2026.
- Simon Biddolph has proposed the establishment of a private members group on the Facebook social media platform which will further boost the club’s communication services for club members. This was unanimously approved by the committee.
- Safeguarding training and refreshment to be implemented as appropriate.
- Coaching team to continue as this year, funds available if additional coaches required.
- ABC to feature again in the 2025 Ainsdale in Bloom, first inspection 28th July
