MINUTES 4TH MARCH 2021

ABC COMMITTEE MEETING 10am, Monday 4th March 2021

Meeting held on Zoom video-chat.

Present:
Trevor Dyson (Chair), Brian Kneale (Vice Chair), Val Cole, Vera McGee,
Sanny McCarter, Ged Walmsley, Len Adams.

Apologies:
Margaret Jacques (President), Ed Tennant.
The minutes of 10th January 2021 meeting were approved and signed by LA on behalf of
the Chairman.
MATTERS ARISING None
MAIN CLUB REPORT
• Minutes of meeting with JC & AW were approved with some additional notes to be
added by TD/GW. The revised minutes to be sent to JC & AW for record purposes.
A further copy to LA for circulation to bowls members.
TREASURERS REPORT
• GW reported no major expenditure since the last meeting.
• Fees paid to the various leagues last year would be held in good stead for 2021.
• He was fairly confident that we could just about break even at the end of the year with
the current subscription given known levels of expenditure
GREEN MANAGER
• Volunteers continuing to work well, recent work included painting of benches.
• The £100 working float for sundry materials has been expended, agreed this should
be replaced.
• Leatherjackets still a problem. Spray treatment over the winter hampered by wet
weather conditions. Moss also a problem.
• MB to carry out a verti-cut as soon as weather permits.
• Electric certification completed but additional safety work required. Main club has
agreed to meet the cost c £300 and also the cost of the new sockets required.
• Defibrillator pads need replacing. Cost of £50 was approved.
Discussion on Defib. siting. TD to review current guidelines.
• Grass cutting waste will again be a problem and assistance needed until League
bowling can be resumed and men’s team captains resume responsibility.

MEMBERSHIP Nothing to report.

GENERAL BUSINESS
COVID 19
• BCGBA notification that following Govt announcements, outdoor sports are
scheduled to resume on 29th March. Specific guidelines are expected to be
received before that date.2.
GREEN OPENING
• Agreed that subject to further guidance from BCGBA, Ainsdale green will be
opened to members from Sun. 4th April. No formal ceremony and all bowling will
probably be required to conform to Phase 2 guidelines issued June last year.
• TD to review possibility of re-opening toilet facilities although it is likely that the
clubhouse will need to remain closed for the time being.
NEW SHELTER
• TD to meet with a contractor with a view to preparing a suitable construction within
the grant budget.
• SMc congratulated TD for his efforts in obtaining the grant.
