LONGTON DAY OUT

Despite the dire weather forecast, 40 intrepid members set off for a day out to the Longton Sports and Social Club.

Two excellent greens were made full use of, with 36 bowlers split into pairs enjoying more than four hours of competitive bowling, enough to challenge even the fittest.

A picnic lunch and an evening meal together with a comfortable club lounge and a well stocked bar made for a day out enjoyed by all.

Cath & Len made sure all the scores were meticulously recorded and prize money duly received by the most successful bowlers.

Best pair in the morning session was Bill Makin and Linda Evason with Keith Miles and Bob Hoy close runners up.

The afternoon session saw Tina Walmsley and Mike Dolman as top pair, followed by Ken Jackson and Moira Murphy as runners up.

The best individual score over the whole day was by Tina Walmsley with Dave Beaumont running a close second and finally, in order to give a little consolation, the prize for the lowest score of the day went to Julie Lord.

Although damp at times and certainly a bit chilly, everyone who took part voted the day a success.
